How much protective gear should a wing/outside center wear?

I've played rugby for a few years and I've never worn shoulder pads, caps, or mitts but I was considering it and was wondering whether most wingers or centers wear it.

  1. theres no real need to wear any of this stuff. I played winger and i never wore any protective gear. except gum-sheilds of course. bulky shoulder pad stoo you from running at full speed and can be awkward.

  2. I would say that the only thing you would need would be mitts, but only if the weather is poor and you're worrying about handling.  Other than that, the shoulder pads will interfere with your running, and you're not in danger of getting cauliflower ear so the cap really isn't needed.

  3. if your playing league shoulder pads are a good thing along with gum shield though you don't need to wear anything as you get used to the collisions

if you mean union some thermal underwear gloves a hat and anything else that will stop you from getting frost bite

  4. ive been playing wing aswell for a few years. i dont like wearing shoulder pads or anything though i find them uncomfortable and they just annoy me. i just wear my gum shield.

  5. i play wing and im quite small so i wear shoulder pads i don't  find them uncomfortable

    They are quite expensive mind.

it also make me looks bigger.
