  1. next time u walk to school. line up at your house but have a friend their. one of u ride the bike and one of u walk. then do the math, it will tell u exactly the answer you want in your scenario. For ex. if there is a large hill you have to walk down, a bike would get there much faster and 97% less effort than you would need walking.

  2. Average person can easily walk between 3 to 3-1/2 miles an hour.  That equated to covering a mile in 20 to17-1/2 minutes.  An average person can ride a bicycle 10 (6 minute per mile) to 12 miles an hour (5 minutes per mile).  You will easily knock off 18 to 20 minutes from your travel time.  Good for you to be using leg and lung power instead of gas consuming horse power.

  3. Probably 10-12 minutes by bike.

  4. About 10 minutes I would say. If you can take the same route, of course. Are you riding on the sidewalk?

  5. Depending on factors like the size of your stride, most people walking at a moderate pace can walk about 3 to 3.5 miles per hour.  Biking at moderate pace could easily be 12 to 14 miles per  hour; so should be able to roughly bike about 3 to 4 times as fast as walk, thus cutting a 30 minute walk time down to maybe 7 to 10 minutes.  Of course if you have to stop for lights or other things while biking, this will add to your time.  I'm assuming a pretty level ride as well; obviously if you have any significant hills, this will affect you time, though you will make up some of the time when going downhill.

Of course the best way to answer this question is; you guessed it - try biking it and time how long it takes! :)

  6. I don't know, but make sure you get a heavy-duty U-shaped lock for when you get where you're going (or whatever the bike shops say is the best these days).  My daughter had a bike lock that we thought was good enough when she started at UCLA--but the first day she biked there, thieves went through with wire-clippers and stole all the bikes with weak locks.

  7. since riding is 3 to 4 times as fast, you could easily get there in 10 minuites riding...saving 20 minutes each way..
