How much ram can i put in my Pc?

I have a emachine 820 2.60Ghz, 80Gb, 512Mb ram, Nvidia Ge-force fx 5200 128mb,any way i want to upgrade it to 1gb or more, can I ? and how can I?

  1. It depends on how much your motherboard can take.


  2. The best way I found on any systems is to go out to www.crucial.com. They have a number of ways to determine how much RAM a system board can handle, and what type you need. Of course they also sell the RAM should you decide to buy from them, but the service is free otherwise. Give them a try.

  3. What your cpu, hard drive and video card are has no bearing on the ram you can run. That depends on the motherboard that you failed to mention. Go here and click on "Scan my system" to see what your memory upgrade options are:

  4. Sounds like a newer PC.  You can undoubtedly up it to 1, I'm guessing it has room for 2.  Just unplug everything and take it to the store, most larget outlets will install it for you.

  5. It can take as much as 2gb's of PC3200 DDR-400. It has 2 sticks 512mb's of PC-3200. There are only 2 memory slots to fill so you need to remove the stock ram to increase the amount.
