How much rms power does my sub have and what kind of amp should i get(rms rated)?

I have a pioneer TS-W3001D4 subwoofer.Its a dual4 sub carrying 3000watts max.I was wondering how much rms watts wold this be equivilant to and what amps should i use..

  1. that sub is 1000w rms so that would be 500w rms per coil.

    if you can get an amp that does 1000 rms at 2ohm, you'll be straight.


  2. yep, Dan nailed this one. go with his answer.

  3. If the sub is rated at 1000 watts RMS, get an amp that puts out 2000 watts.  This will keep your amp from clipping and causing the speaker to fail.  However, listen to the speaker closely to make sure it isn't pushed past its mechanical limits.
