  1. I have one in my room, he seems happy.

  2. Depends on the activity level and how much grass there is.  If it's at least decent grass he probly wouldn't need more than an acre (average horses should have 3 acres of decent grass), according to east-coast standards.  If he's low energy that should be plenty, but if he likes to play he'll need more.

At the same time, if he's got a very high metabolism you may even have to put a grazing muzzle on him to keep him from foundering while still letting him have the space.

  3. About an acre

  4. A horse or pony needs 1.5 acres plus an additional acre for every other horse or pony. I suppose with a miniature or donkey you could put it on a slightly smaller plot. I would say an acre is the minimum requirement and I wouldn't be too happy about that personally..

  5. I have a donkey.. so I'm only going to talk on them.

Donks can't handle prosperity.. Mine are drylotted, if they have access to too much grass, you can do some serious damage if they are allowed on lush pastures.

Mine is running on a little under a 1/2 acre and its plenty.  They aren't exactly high energy animals.

You really want the poorest quality hay for them.  I'm not talking mold, but just not real high quality rich hay.  So weedy grass hay is good etc.

If you put them on pasture, do so on a limited time frame, so 2 hours a day depending on the quality of the grass etc.

  6. At least 1/2 and acre.

  7. a smallish shed 4 days when it rains & enough room to run around, such as a backyard...

  8. I used to know a lady who lived in a house and had a small yard, less than half an acre, and her minuature horse was house trained like a dog.  It ate the grass in the yard and if it had to go pee or p**p, it let her know by going to the door and pawing at the floor.

There are actually people who train these miniatures to be "seeing eye dogs" because they live longer than dogs and are just as trainable.
