  1. That depends if you have a fresh water tank or a salt water tank. For freshwater, about 1-2 TSP of aquarium salt is good. For a salt water aquarium, there should be about 4.5 OZ of salt per gallon...so that adds up  to 45OZ or about 2.8 pounds of salt for your 10 gallon aquarium.

  2. This is an exact science to ensure prime conditions for your saltwater aquarium, you will need a hydrometer or a refractiometer.  Refractiometer is more expensive but more accurate.

Add your salt water slowly (say 1 cup every 10 mins), dissolving by stirring it and then testing it after each addition.  The level should be around 1.020-1.026.

  3. It's ONE TABLESPOON per 5 u.s gal.

  4. most brands of marine (don't call it sea salt, sea salt is for food) salt use a measurement of about 1/2 a per gallon.. pakages for 5 gallons of water are 2.5 cups..

but exactly how much can vary on any number of qualities.. temp of the water for instance..

FOWLR tanks are devoid of corals, or most delicate inverts, as such the SG can be lower than in a reef tank.. such as 1.020 as opposed to the 1.025 you should have for a reef

  5. Four teaspoons of aquarium salt for a freshwater ten gallon tank.  Or at least, that's how much I use for my betta tank.  That's the recommendation Faith gives on bettatalk.com; one teaspoon for two and a half gallons.  Here's the website url where she says that:  http://www.bettatalk.com/betta_diseases....

For a FOWLR tank, which I just looked up and it turns out is saltwater, you use the standard amount of salt for a saltwater tank.  Ocean water is 35,000 ppm salt, according to http://phoenix.about.com/cs/wet/a/saltpo... so I guess you'd match that.  You need at least 6,000 ppm to have water considered "saltwater" (source:  http://hitemp.co.za/wordpress/?p=20 )

Most people use one third of a cup (or 1/4 pound) per gallon of water for saltwater tanks (source: http://www.foreverpurple.com/lhccare/sal... ) I guess you'd have to buy expensive equipment to be more precise than that.
