How much should I Get paid for Babysitting?

I'm 14 and and want to become a babysitter. But I don't know how much I should get paid by hour.

I get paid $10 per hour for 3 children so I would say $8 an hr and add $1 dollar for each additional child to that $8.

The one Answer must have come from someone who paid babysitters in the 70's...it's not 2 or 3 dollars an hour!!

Well, when I babysit, I usually ask what people are willing to pay first. Generally, I decide the final price based on how many children i babysit.

1= 5 dollars

2= 7 dollars

3= 8.50 dollars

I'm 14 and I babysit some too. If you're just starting out you don't want to charge to much, but not too little either. Sometimes people in need of a babysitter already have a rate that they pay, so you should ask them. You may get more depending on the age of the children, how many children, and how long you are babysitting for. I babysat for 4 or 5 hours for a 4, 5, and 11 year old and I got 20 bucks. For another job I babysat for an 18 month old and a 3 year old for 11 hours(a job for a few weeks, 2 times a week.) and I got paid 50 dollars. It all depends on the people.  When I first started my rate was 2.50 an hour and .50 for each additional child. This was a little cheap and everyone I talked to said it was too. So now I just go by whatever the parents I'm babysitting for usually pay. It works pretty good, you just have to be comfortable talking to your clients about it. Hope this helps!!

You really don't want to go too high.... you are still a kid!  if the child is under 1 then $10-$15 depending how much they are willing.... if not $5-$9!

i am twelve and i get a two - four dollars an hour . Its plenty .. they need you so who cares!! they will appreciate it !!  I always feel good after because they familey is a little poor the mom works 3 jobs!! they also sometimes give you little things like........................... They were late on pay ment and i said they did not have to pay me and they mailed me my money and a little bag of lavender... it was awesome it makes my room smell great and i love to smell it. it was from there garden!!!!!!!!!!! it was thoughtful...........  plus you get to hang at there kids and play fun games with the kid(s)  ............... ps i baby sit a five year old and a seven year old , and when i got paid for working five hours i got ten bucks ( and the lavender)
