Question:

How much should I Sell My Sax for

I have a jupiter Alto sax that has seen 2 years of use. I rarely play it anymore since I have moved my secondary guitar skills to the forefront.

I am wondering whether I should try to make a profit off the sax or simply try and rid myself of it.

P.S. I bought it for $1290

  1. $999.99

    It looks cheaper than $1000

  2. since it is used then you should sell it for a little less and if it is in good condition not too much less but bad condition not even 1000 dollars, b/c i don't think anybody would buy it for much more than that.

sorry you gonna make a profit out of a 2 years of usage sax.

  4. OH! you said sax, my bad, sorry, I don't know the answer to that. Especially now that I read the whole question. Thought maybe it was a misprint.

  5. Jupiter is generally a student model brand.  If it's the 767GL Deluxe... sad to say that you can buy it new for less than you paid for it.  I would sell it for half of the new price (right now it's going for $989)... so $500ish.

If it's any other model, like from the Artist Series or the XO Series, then you're in luck... you could try to sell it for $800 to $950.

Now these prices are assuming that the sax is in PRESTINE condition... for every slight ding or scratch, take off $20, and if it has serious dents, chipped lacquer, bent keys or rods, missing pads... take of $100 for EACH bit of damage as that's what it will take for the new owner to fix it.

If you want to try to recoup some money, I would suggest trying to sell it in the newspaper or as a private sale... if you sell it on eBay, you'll only get a couple hundred because Jupiters are a dime a dozen.  You might try Craigslist too, but like eBay, your odds of getting much for it are slim, but it's a quick way to unload it if you just want to get rid of it.  Either way, it's money you can put towards your guitar and accompanying gear!

Anyways, hope this helped, and good luck!  :)

  6. Usually I would expect to sell it for about half of original purchase price.
