Ok, I have been repairing computers for a while (Like 5 years), and can do just about anything when if come to repair and tuning. I am currently attending college, and am close to earning an A.S. in Computer Information Systems. Also, I am currently attending a Computer Microsoft Academy for my A+ Certification. I just recently started charging for my work (like 50$ here and there). Now my question is, what do you guys think that I am worth an hour? i am not certified YET, but almost done. I live in California.

  2. Hi

I am a technical recruiter, as I know the US market now I can say that you will be worth to $30/Hr... but still it depends upon the place and company.

So just get going on in your career and get experienced and you will find high paid positions in life.

if you feel you need to talk to me you can contact me on anup.purushotham@yahoo.com.

  3. $30-$40 an hour is about what the average is for such repair work. Surprising, I have found that if you LOWER the price, you get less work. People are not sure about someone who is too cheap.

I normally list a price of $40 an hour, with a three hour maximum (plus parts if needed).  I will not go over 3 hours without specific permission.  Then I usually discount it to $35 so they feel like they have a bargain. (I can usually come up with a "reason" to give them a discount.

Plus the average person could care less if you have a certification or not, as long as you do a good job for them. But do get the certification if you want to expand into "commercial" or "business" customers.

Besides the A+, make sure you get some networking experience. (Set up your own server and play around.) Most commercial/business customers will be looking for that more then PC repair.
