How much should I charge for babysitting a 9 yr old kid for 7 hours?

This is my first time babysitting, so I would like to know what's the average? I live in Southern California (San Diego area).

  1. It all depends on when and where you are babysitting the child.  If it is at night, babysitters usually charge more.  During the day, not as much.  Also, the finacial avaliabilty of the parent is an important factor.  An averge that I would suggest is, since it is your first time, about 25 dollars during the day,  35-40 during the night.

Hope that helps in anyway.  Good luck!

  2. Babysitting is tricky, you ask for too much and they think you are crazy and too little and they'll take advantage.

I haven't babysat in about ten years, lol. I charged about two dollars and hr, so I'd say about $28...or 4 an hour. It isn't like getting paid minimum wage and most parents as a rule will always pay a babysitter less than minimum wage would, especially based on the fact that they don't take taxes out of your wages when you  watch children:) And the age of the child only matters if they have behavior problems or seem to have more responsibility...a nine year old has way less tasks than a newborn or a two year old going through the terrible twos, lol.

Hope it helped and have fun:) I loved babysitting.

  3. Maybe $40, i mean the child is 9, almost a pre-teen.
