I used to teach at a preschool and since then I became a part of a play group program thats based on a preschool structure. I am getting paid $100 a day to teach 4-5 toddlers once a week. If I was to teach 1 child apart from the group how much should i charge?

I am in the San Francisco bay area

  1. Once again, I have to agree with Curly.  What you're describing is not homeschooling, it's babysitting.

  2. You are not "homeschooling" since children do not do homeschooling legally until the age of 6 in California. What you are doing is childcare. I would charge what a Nanny normally charges and in this time and age is is usually between $10-$15 an hour.

  3. I agree - this is childcare, not homeschooling.  Toddlers need both structured and unstructured playtime as skill builders, which translates into more of a daycare/nanny situation.  I would say to charge the going rate for a private nanny in your area.

  4. Structured curriculum for toddlers? Hmm. It is a play group, not homeschooling. If you do educational activities, fine, but please let them be unstructured and spontaneous for yet a little while.

  5. Well, that's called baby sitting, not homeschooling, but to answer you question about $50.

    :D

  6. My understanding is that compulsory education in CA is 6yrs and up.  As Curly stated, below that age is child care.  Sounds like VERY GOOD child care, but you may want to check the ads for nannies and see the rates in private area preschool facilities, pro-rating for single day care.

that might give you a basis to begin your calculation.  The data seems to be 2 yrs. old.

  7. This isn't homeschooling.
