I have a riding mower and I want to know how much I should charge.

The lawn all in all is about 2/3 of an acre and almost all of it is on a slant. How much should I charge?

  1. Are you using a push mower anywhere or a ride mower? Is the mower yours or the clients. Is the yard over grown, will you have to move items, how long will it take for you to mow the lawn? Will you have to clean up the clippings?

Since the property is on a slant will you need to use a weedwacker or other equipment?

Once you have figured out how many hours it will take you and extras you will need to do they you will be able to come up with a fair rate.

If all you have to do is cut grass on a sit mower $80 - $100 is fair, I usually tip our gardener for over and beyond what is expected.

  2. call around and ask some established companies, from what i can tell about $40.00

  3. Consider how much gas you need to do the yard. That should go into your price.

    Consider the oil too.

Consider the wear and tear on your machine.

Consider how often you will be mowing it, and how often it needs to be mowed.

Will you have to move any lawn ornaments or sprinklers? Who will be responsible for that?

And how big is this slant? Are there hills or rocks involved? Maneuverability ?

I used to mow my grandpas yard when I was like 12, and it took 2 hours. I had to pick up small branch/twigs in the path of the lawnmower. It was roughly half an acre of grass... and I got $10/hour.

And then he'd let me ride the quads til dark for like 5 hours.... haha, but thats not your situation.

I would say, $9-12 per hour is a good range. I mean.. I dont know where you are, but here in southern california... everybody hires an illegal mexican to do their lawns and gardening. (im from nor cal, where its a little less prominent.)

  4. Have children, and once they are old enough they can do it whenever you want and guess what! They have to do it! And you dont have to pay them! PLEASE LET YOUR GRASS GROW!!! ITS PURDY AND WILL FILTER MORE CO2 FROM THE ATMOSPHERE!

  5. well figure in your gas wear and tear on your mower  how many hours to do the job  so say 20 bucks for showing up 15 bucks per hour and gas and wear and tear of the mower  so i say 35 bucks  if its a one time job maybe a better deal if it long term job :)

    hope it helps M8

    have a great day

  6. cost of gas plus maybe 20-30 dollars,
