I am opening up my own cleaing service. I've got just about everything figured out except for how much to charge? I want to charge per room I think.... It's just going to be basic exterior and surface cleaning. Like dusting, vaccuming, bathrooms, floors, appliances etc... Let me know! Thanks.

  1. I clean for people and charge the same as well, 10-15.00 an hour, usually depending on the house and how far you have to travel, I charge more if it's further away. I wouldn't charge per room, gets too complicated and then if you end up doing more you don't get paid for it.

  2. I think micki is right. What if you have a house relatively clean but you just need to dust a few rooms, you end up in and out in an hour, but you went through 5 rooms. Then think about someone who wants you to come to clean two rooms that are horrible, and you are there for 4 hours cleaning those two rooms. I think by the hour would be best, but also having package deals would be nice.

  3. I clean for a few people and also have a full time job. I get anywhere from $10.00 to $15.00/ hr

  4. I did this for a long time and I used to charge $10. per hour plus add at least 2 hours for your travel cost.Usually for a basic room cleaning it would take around 20-60 minutes, so charge at least $30. for one room cleaning.

  5. I charge $15 an hour for the basics. If I'm cleaning for somebody regularly, I usually convert it to a flat fee based on the number of hours it takes me to clean. It's easier for them if they always know what they're going to pay. Also, that way, if I do extras I don't normally do, I get paid. Also, when you go to clean for someone for the first time, don't just go by what they say. Actually go look at the house before and see how long it will take you and what kind of shape the house is in. This will avoid you underbidding a job. Many times messy people don't realize how hard their house is to clean and how long it will take. This will also give you a chance to confirm what they want done and how. Everybody wants different things cleaned. Good luck!
