A 1995 chevy suburban. chipped paint on the hood, top. needs new transmission. 215,000 miles. everything else (under the hood, interior, tires) is in great condition. with a new transmission it could get another 200,000 miles. What do you think I should charge for it? I'm new at this.

  1. if its a 4x4, around 2500, if its 2 wd around 2000

  2. Go to KBB,com, and get pricing for your vehicle, including all the options, and as if it was in good running condition. Then, get a few quotes for the repair, and subtract that from the price, plus a little more for their trouble.

You might ask the transmission repair shops if they know of anyone who would want it as-is, but ask after you get the quote.

You'll sell it quicker if you fix the transmission yourself, though, and you'll probably make more, too, especially if you mention the new transmission and its warranty.

  3. KBB.com is over rated and there prices never reflect reality....... Your suburban is scrap in my opinion...... Gas prices are so high that nobody wants them. Nobody is going to want to spend $9000 in gasoline to drive another 200000 miles in this thing..... Check out the newspaper and craigslist and see how many gas guzzlers are listed that people are trying to dump....  Sell it as a parts vehicle or scrap it.... The catalytic converter is worth $80 in up and the rest of it should fetch $300 over the scale at the scrap yards......  If you dont want to scrap it then put a $750 or best offer on it and take the first $550 and run.....  ...

  4. I am buying 1999 with 130,000 and in good running conditioning for $2500.00

Sorry to say it is only worth scrap.  If you gave me the car I would have more in expenses getting arid of it.
