  1. I'd take into consideration the family's income, how much you need the money, and the child's ability level.  Raising an autistic child is expensive, and they may not be able to afford much.

  2. It depends how bad the kids autism is but probably between $5 and $10.

  3. I babysat a 5-year-old with autism once for money, two times for free (three times in all).  He is nonverbal and non-pottytrained.  I just let the mother pay what she wanted, and she was going to pay me $20.  My mom is friends with the boy's mom (they work at the same place).  I even watch him/keep an eye on him/play with him when they're not giving me the responsibility of babysitting.  I find babysitting him fun and possibly helpful for my future career of special education teacher. I don't care what I get paid.

Well, unless I'm gonna use the money for something important (like Signing Time!, a sign language video series that I like to watch, that would also help him).

  4. It depends on how much you are working and how difficult the little boy is. I would start at asking for $9 per hour, since FL min wage is almost $7/h. Good luck!

  5. I would pay at least $10. If you can afford it, I wold hire somebody that has experience with working with autistic children.  I'm a firm believer of .."you get what you pay for."

  6. See if you can find out the going rate for babysitting in your area. You are obviously an adult since you are a teacher. If you are degreed, you can ask a little more. I am both and I get $11 an hour (usually $1 in addition for each child)  for children  without special needs. I would say at the very least $10.
