Question:

How much should I charge per hour when babysitting?

I'm a freshman in high school and I used to charge 7 dollars an hour, but I want to start saving up for a car.

Should I start charging more, is seven enough?

And should it depend on how many kids?

Please help.

I'm babysitting for my new neighbors tomorrow night, and I would like to know some charging ideas.

Thanks in advance :)

  1. I don't know, upwards of $7-8 for a single kid seems pretty steep to me.  I think it definitely should matter how many kids there are.  My kids' babysitter only asked for $5-6 an hour, and I have four kids, two older and two younger.  I gave the babysitter dinner, and I've known her for a very long time (she started when she was about 14 and has continued into her early 20's.  Now my kids can babysit themselves), so maybe you can charge more than her.

What I would do is see what the neighbors can afford, and talk about it with them.

    Hope this helps!

  2. it all depends on where you live and how much they make and what kind of job then have i say if its 8 dollars an hour or 2.50 a kid witch ever will bring you more money

  3. So, raise it to $8/hr plus $2 for each extra child.  You could also raise the price depending on whether the kids are potty-trained or not.
