Im a stay at home mom and I want to make some extra cash. These people live in a house that is over 20000 sq feet. They have three bedrooms,3 bathrooms and a big living room, kitchen, dinning room and laudry room. They want me to dust every cabinet and they have 4 big cabinets and entertainment center that I have to get up on ladders to clean.Clean all the bathrooms.sweep and mop all floors, vacuum all carpet and shake rugs and even clean the pictures on the wall along with the ceiling fans. I live in Palm Springs area, they must have paid about $500,000 for the house thats the least amount. how much shoudl I charge them? it would take me about 6-7hours the first time to clean and then after that maybe 4-5 hours and I clean every other week. They want to pay me 75-85 dollars is that a fair price

  1. That does seem a little low, especially for that area.    I would  probably ask a minimum of $100.00 for the first 5 hrs. (maybe 6).   That would be around $15.00 to $20.00 per hr.   That is about the going rate around here depending on your expierence.   I do this type of work also and I have a hard time charging people what is really a fair price.  I should be charging 16.25 per hr. mimimum but I charge $12.00 and $13.00 out of town.   Some in this area charge $22.00  per hr.   I am very particular, through,  detail oriented everything must shine.   Everything you have mentioned is what I would do also along with vacuuming lamp shades, baseboards, furniture,  window seals,  door tracks and nic nacks.  I always move things,  spot wash walls, light swithch face plates, cobs webs and clean blinds.   I like doing this work, but it is very hard work.   Be right up front from the get-go and don't underpay yourself.   I'm  finding it really hard to raise my rates even to $15.00 per.hr. because I already set the price at $12.00 .   Keep in mind  the cost of living went up 300% in just a few months  so good luck.

  2. 75-85 sounds kinda low, I would charge $ 100.00 a day 6-8 hrs ,considering what is expected for you to do.$ 60.00 for 4-5 hrs. Remember your a mother who needs the extra cash and don't want to feel like after your job is done. That you got ripped off.You want to feel good about what your doing. That is only fair to you and your family,I am sure they will understand.Take your chance good-luck you never know you just might be able to start your own cleaning business one of these days.

  3. Are you actually a professional cleaner? if not then why are you doing this? my mother is a professional cleaner and she charges 90$ an hour, considering you haven't said whether your a professional I would say $40 because you may actually think it will take 4-5 hours when it might take longer if your new to it and they want a decent job done

  4. I charge $15-17 per hour. If it is vary dirty...more than 3 people, kids, inside pets, messy things like that. If you charge by the house they tend to add things on.  If you have to provide your own supplies...a mop, vacuum, rags and cleaning products I say the $17. If you take your sweet time and are slow I do the $15. I charge a little more for the first time.  I always go to check out the home to see what I am in for. I say a house cleaner is a luxury.

  5. 20000sq foot that's like a mini white house paying 75-85 dollars is not an option. take it from a maintance man himself charge by the hour and for Margette you should charge a 100 to a 150 an hour any thing less will be minimum wage
