I am babysitting twin 2 year old boys for a full day. Like from 12pm to 12am. I normally charge $7, but I ve never done it overnight. I have bvabysat for these kids for almost 5 months but never overnight. What is a reasonable price? I was thinking $125, is that too low or too high? These kids are wild, but sweet and taking their behaviors into consideration, how much do you think I should charge? I am certified and everything. I am a 14 year old in high school student. And this is on the weekend

  1. $125 is WAY to much.

    I suggest asking 40 or 50.

  2. If you are working from 12 noon to 12 midnight, that is not 24 hours, but 12 hours.

At $125.00 for 12 hours is $10.42 / hour. I don't know where you live, but that is above minimum wage which is $6.55 / hour federally. Obviously if they are going to trust you to watch their little monsters overnight, you have gained their trust. $125.00 is totally reasonable. That means you will be serving and preparing meals, and sleeping over, which is living in service.

In business, you get paid what you are worth. You are the one who sets your worth. If you say you are worth $125, then you are. If they refuse to pay that, then they can get someone else who will do it for less. You can also barter with them. Minimum wage at $6.55 / hour for 12 hours is $78.60. If you double that, because of two kids it comes to $157.20. Less you meals, then $125.00 sounds okay.

Go on-line and look up the minimum wage for the state where you live. charge that rate for 12 hours.

Watching children, especially during the night is a big responsibility. There is no price you can put on peace-of-mind. If you watch that show about the Super-Nanny's 911 you can bet they get paid more than minimum wage. You often hear about au pairs that injure or abuse the baby. The way you'll really know what to charge is if you feel good and are happy after you get paid. If you don't then you didn't ask enough.

    Good luck!

  3. $125 is a perfect amount to charge, especially for 2 kids nevermind the overnight part. Good Luck with the kids!!  :)

  4. Thats not overnight. Unless you have the whole AM/PM thing confused. You go there from Lunch Time to 12at night?

    Anyways, $125?

    Thats waaaay too much.

Leave it up to the parents to pay you. Watching them from lunchtime to 12:00 at night is worth no more than $40.

  5. no its a good price i mean common overnight?!?!?

  6. So your saying Noon to midnight one day the way i understand it. I think you should ask for 50.00...........125 is extreme and unless you live in a rich neighborhood I doubt they will pay it.

  7. well, they ARE two years old, and so they are proably needy, but I wouldn't charge so much, maybe about 75$.
