How much should I except to pay for a pure bred standard poodle?

How much would a breeder charge for a pure bred standard poodle? I want a female if that makes a difference. I am in NJ/Philly area. I just want a rough estimate. Thanks!

ADD: No s*x and location should have no bearing upon the price of the animal neither should the color. You want a breeder who breeds for temperament, a dog that reflect the standard on the whole and health and improving the breed.

Well judgin' your location, Probably alot, And you wanting a female, Even more so. I'd rest easy on maybe $1000, Depending on the breeder and such.

depending on pet or show quality, $300 - 1500

look for registered breeders that give care to the dog's overall health and temperment.  backyard breeders are notoriously indifferent or just ignorant regarding genetics.
