How much should I except to pay for a pure bred standard poodle?

How much would a breeder charge for a pure bred standard poodle? I want a female if that makes a difference. I am in NJ/Philly area. I just want a rough estimate. Thanks!

    ADD: No s*x and location should have no bearing upon the price of the animal neither should the color. You want a breeder who breeds for temperament, a dog that reflect the standard on the whole and health and improving the breed.

    look for registered breeders that give care to the dog's overall health and temperment.  backyard breeders are notoriously indifferent or just ignorant regarding genetics.
