  1. It really depends on what your needs are. For a basic brochure style website, you could pay anywhere from $500-$3000 depending on what kind of design quality your are looking for. If you need lots of database work, it could be considerably more.

You could try one of the free website platforms out there and be up and running in minutes. One platform i have used is www.thevillage.com. It has lots of features that would be expensive to build yourself. It's free if you allow them to display the ads or you could pay to take the ads off.

  2. It really depends on several factors. Are you looking to have someone build it for you? Or do you wish to have a professional website and save a lot of money by doing the work with assistance and training? If you are looking to have one built, I would plan on $2,000+. If you are willing to invest your time in building the same site you could do it for $300 and get the same results. I am basing this on the features that are offered by the web host that I use. I would suggest that you take a look at several options from many companies to know you are getting  the best fit. You can see the services I use at http://services.sitesell.com/Unstoppable... and if you would like to do the work on your own you can check out http://find.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDrea... I would be happy to elaborate on my experiences in building a professional website as well.

    BEST WISHES!
