How much should I expect to pay for a replacement original amplifier for a Polk Audio PSW404 sub system?

The amplifier is no longer usable, so it is out of the question to repair it and the warranty would not cover it, but I do have the subwoofer and would like to have the same amplifier because I enjoyed the quality of the sound.

  1. That question is nebulous at best. Do you have a warantee to replace? How did the sub-woofer fail and was it under warantee at the time? If not, just go to Radio Shack or some other source and buy a new sub-woofer. You can get them for about $100 if you search hard enough. It doesn't have to be Polk because a sub-woofer of any brand can be connected if it has a built-in amp.

  2. Try EBay. Of course you would be at the mercy of whomever wants to charge. Who knows, you might get lucky.  But as for anything other than that, I have one word: Veldyne.  Look them up on the web.  In my opinion the very best sub produced. EVER.
