How much should I expect to pay for new pads/rotors (brakes) on my 2004 Saab 9-3?

The front brakes are making an aweful grinding noise. I replaced all 4 a couple of years ago, and it was around $1,000, at the dealer.

So I'm wondering how much should I expected to be somewhere OTHER THAN the dealer. (Just Brakes, Midas, etc...)

  1. for parts shouldn't be more than 200$, check on genuinesaab.com. Labor is dicey depending on per hour charge. total work is 1.5 hours as per saab.

  2. Do it yourself.  4 set's of pads: $40.  4 Rotors: $100. Total: $140 which is a lot less than $1000 for 2 hrs worth of work.  It's really really easy and they make step by step ilustrated how-to manuals (sold at autozone).  If your in Massachusetts e-mail me and i'd do it for $200 plus parts.
