Question:

How much should I expect to pay to have a new outside water spigot installed on the back side of my house?

My older home has one outside water spigot and it is inconveniently located on the side of my house. I am constantly having to drag hoses from it around the house to water plants and the yard, etc. I would love to have a plumber install another spigot on the back side of my house but I have no idea what I should expect to pay for this.

Does anyone know?

Thanks!!

  1. Wow, not much information. It depends on how far he has to run new pipe inside your house. Is your plumbing copper or plastic, or galvanized pipe? Whatever it is , he could certainly do this in one day. Figure $80.00/ hr. for 8 hrs. and $50 to $100.00 for pipe and materials.

  2. Probably about $100.

  3. If you have a friend that would help you about 300.00 but if you go to a shop.......6to8............Try and make it frost free hose bib if possible........they may be able to just tap a cold water line along the way........hopefully you have a bathroom or some sort of water on that side of the house.  Good luck (thick frost free and insulated)

  4. As plumberock said, it does depend somewhat, on how far it is to a water line where the new feed could be tee'd in to get over to the back side.  However, considering as how most plumbing is located on the back side of a basement if you're in the a rural setting, it may not be very far at all.   I've installed a lot of these things and the frost proof faucet will cost in the $25 - $30 neighborhood.  Any plumber worth his salt should be able to plumb a line to a new set up like this in no more than 4 hours, tops.  Be sure to have them install a shut off valve in the line behind the faucet.  In the event you forget and leave a hose on it in the winter and it freezes anyway, it makes it much easier to change the next time.
