How much should I expect to spend on food in Rome?

I'll be there for 3 months...September, October and November (not of this year but next). I'm a very light eater and I don't plan on eating out in a restaurant every day (maybe once a week...maybe). So, how expensive is food in Rome? Like here, is everything going up? Where I live, milk is now $1.99 for a gallon.

Thanks!

    1 L of milk it's about 0.75 Euro about 1.10 $in

    so........

    a gallon is about 4 $!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  2. When you eat out, the cheapest meal (e.g. doner kebab) would be 2.5 Euros. If you go to a fancy restaurant you could spend as much as 20 Euros.

If you cook, you can probably manage under 2 Euros per meal.

Have a great time, enjoy Rome and the rest of Italy!
