How much should I pay a co-worker to cat sit for 4-5 days?

We're leaving Monday AM and returning Saturday. I'm going to tell her she can come over anytime Monday & that she can leave Friday when she leaves for work (the cats will be okay over night until we get back on Saturday).

We have 2 indoor cats, so she really just needs to feed, water and clean out the litter box. Our female is shy, so she won't need much attention; the male likes to play a lot, so she'll probably need to spend more time with him.

I am also asking her to water our landscaping at least once during that time, if it doesn't rain. I have a potted plant that needs watering every day, and a couple indoor plants that will need watering once or twice.

I'm going to have the mail stopped, so she doesn't have to get the mail, but she will have to take the garbage cans in on Monday when she gets here (garbage picks up on Monday mornings).

I was originally going to pay her $100 -- with the additional responsibilities, should I pay her more?

  1. I think $100 is adequate, since she doesn't have a huge amount of responsibilities.

  2. A hundred bucks is more than enough.

  3. sounds like enough to me...and she should enjoy the break to her routine

  4. 100 bucks is enough.... i know if i lived by you my brother would do it for 100 bucks... hes always looking for ways too make money lol he said too me last night ill paint your room for 50 dollars lol i was like no dad will do it for nothing ..... lol

  5. Thats more than enough! shes getting some luxury accommodation for the week too!

  6. 10 dollars a day would be a fair price

but if its a demanding cat then 20 dollars a day

  7. thats 20 bucks a day i say make it 40 day..

  8. Are you stocking your pantry and refrigerator and welcoming her to help herself to anything she would like to eat or drink while she stays at your home during this time?

If you are then, if you want to go a little higher I would only consider going as high as $30.00 per day while she's there.  If she's going to be there around the clock that is.....if she's only going to be there the normal hours outside of work that you would be and she's being fed then I'd probably stick to $20.00 and if you get home and things went well and your pleased with the way things look you can always give her a good tip!

  9. that sounds like enough

  10. $100 is perfect. i would figure $20 per day.

quick q - she doesn't have to drive to and from your home very far, like way out of the way, right?

in that event that you are far for her, add extra $5 per day or like a total of $120. NO MORE than $130 would be sufficient.

  11. I would think 10 to 15 dollars a day is reasonable.

  12. I think $100 is a fair price.
