  1. Not more than $500, in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of spending a lot on flowers because they die and other than saying, "Wow, nice centerpiece) no one really appreciates them, nor do they really add that much to the tone of the room (unless you go all out).

We're not having any flowers for our reception decor, just bouquets and boutionniers for the ceremony, and that's it. I haven't hired the florist yet, but our wedding coordinator has said that our budget of $400 for just that should be just fine.

However, if you're really into flowers, go  up to $1,000, but not more than that. Figure out three things that are really important to you and your fiance that you must have. If flowers aren't on there, I would stick to $500 or less. Our top three things were the venue, the photographer, and yes, I'll admit, my dress. So flowers were really easy to let go of knowing we splurged a little on the things we truly wanted.

  2. Well, it kind of depends on how much you like flowers and what you plan on doing with them and how elaborate you want your arrangements. :)

I personally don't really like flowers, just not my thing, love candles instead. So my centerpieces are going to be candle based without any flowers. My bouquets are all one single (large) flower. I'm not paying any more than $100 on flowers, but I'm also not getting very many.

My friend loves flowers so huge bouquets, flowers at the ceremony, flowers everywhere at the reception. Her budget is towards the $1,250 mark.

If your plan is somewhere in the middle, then aim for about $500 (good figure in my book).

  3. I spend $500 on flowers. That got me my bouquet, four BMs, 9 boutonnieres,  & 3 corsages with delivery. Your cost will depend on the flowers you choose. The one thing I would have done differently is that I would have asked how big the bouquets were going to be. They ended up being on the small side. It certainly didn’t make or break my day, but I might have changed some things around if I had known that detail in advance.

  4. I am also spending 15K for my wedding..

I am getting all real flowers:

    the brides bouquet

    5 bridesmaids bouquet

    5 groomsmen boutonnieres

    1 grandmother corsage

    2 mother corsage

    1 priest boutonniere

    1 father boutonniere

    1 ring bearer boutonniere

    3 ushers boutonniere

    1 flowergirl flower petals

flower pedals for altar and tables

and that is it.. no flower arrangements at all.. no centerpieces

the price will depend on what flowers you want, mine consistes of roses, stargazed, lilys, calla lilys,  hydranias, and stephonoids with pearls

my total came out to $900, at an average florist

  5. As a florist , I have seen all sorts of budgets from $50 to close to $8000.   You need to decide what type of wedding you are having, and your budget.

After that , these are the factors that decide how much you should spend on flowers.

1- The formality of the event.

2- The location and number/size of tables , how tall is the ceiling (YES this matters)

3-What type of flowers would you love , what flowers would be ok?  what flowers are a deffinate no?

4-  What holidays/local events will take place near your wedding date?  What flowers will be in season?

5- how elaborate do you want each peice to be?

6- will the florist have to do alot of set-up and driving?

You can cut expenses by using more common , in season flowers.

Using arrangements from the ceremony at the reception.

Use a local floral school or technical education center.

have a family member or friends set up the flowers

pick plain styles that still make a statement  (a bouquet of mixed garden flowers is nice , but a bouquet of solid colour roses with a pretty pin mixed in or attached to the ribbon it even better)

Try flowerless alternatives , or less flowers and more greens

you REALLY MUST talk to your florist.    Ask questions , bring photos , fabric swatches , etc.

also , try some DYI!!   I will not lie to you ,  as a florist we pay VERY little for flowers.  Then we charge you 2, 3 or 4 times more than they cost us , plus a service fee!!      So find a wholesaler, and do it yourself.  This is tricky tho , as it all must be done only a one to two days in advance , kept cooled , and takes a bit of know how.   However i get lots of calls from brides who thought they could it but became flustered or ran out of time ,    so be careful  if you do this!!
