  1. Joan and Tara are right! I've tried both. Unless your toilet is scary and water is everywhere... you can do it  yourself! Remove all but enough water to cover the plunger. Take it in a bucket and dump into your tub or outside. Just sanitize afterwards! Try plunging it for a $3 plunger. Try dumping water down the toilet after you plunge it. Once the water level is low, if you dump water down, you can tell if it's unclogged or not. Flush, and carefully turn off the water if it becomes dangerously high.

  2.   Before you pay out loads of money i can tell you a way to do it that will only cost you a couple of buckets of water, and i know this works as i have a brother-in-law who has been in the trade for many, many years, what you have to do is fill a bucket with COLD water (NOT HOT) and throw it down the toilet, you may need to do this a couple of times job done, and i know it works because that is just what i have done more than once, so no need for a plumber, i wouls be most surprised if it didn't work but i am sure it will, good luck.

  3. If it is a simple as running a snake, and can be completed in 2 hours or less, $60-80.  But you never can really know, because if a pipe has collapsed, is clogged by a tree root, or some other disaster, it could be thousands.

  4. Ovejita it will cost you about $100.00 if you call a plumber to come out and do 10 minute job in LA.  Go to Home depot and buy toilet Auger for about $30.00, just put spring auger inside toilet and start turning

handle.  See short film below on how to unclog toilet, he says auger will cost about $7.00 but I have not seen one that cheap.  The Plunger will work with paper clog, and Auger will work on about anything.

    Good Luck
