How much should I pay my babysitter in CT?

My kids are 1, 2 and 4 and I am trying to figure out if I am overpaying. I thought $15-20 was a good rate but everyone I talk to seems to be paying less. The girl I use told me to pay her whatever I am comfortable with. I don't want to underpay. Also, most of the time when we would go out the kids would be sleeping.

  1. wow is that 15 an hour?

i babysit two kids all day long from anywhere around 7:20 to 8:20 am to 5:15 to 6:15 pm.

    i do this 5 days a week.

i get 200 a week. so i get 100 per kid! i think thats like 40 a day! so i didnt go by hourly!

but when i watch this other boy from like 7pm to early morning i get paid 10 an hour! and i let the mother tell me what she wanted to pay me. i think thats great!

i dont ever say a amount. i let the parent tell me what they want and take it. unless its something silly.

    hope i helped!~Crystal

  2. i was paid 8$ an hour for 2 kids, both awake. it wasn't fair. i had to prepare dinner, laundry, put clothes away, watch them, do the PARENTS laundry (absoloutley disgusting by the way), vacuume, i figuered it wasn't worth it whatsoever, i was more of a nanny than a babysitter.

  3. Don't pay more than 8-10 an hour for all 3. Especially if the kids will mostly be sleeping.  I was a nanny in Westport, CT and thats all I charged for side jobs in the evenings.

  4. Hi, I have babysat up to 5 children between the ages of 3mths-10yrs. I normally charge about $10 an hr, becuase most of the time the kids are asleep when i am there

  5. 3 kids you are in the ballpark as far as pay and it doesnt matter whether kids are asleep or awake your paying for the childrens safety

  6. I think that is a little much.

I usually get about $3 per kid.

And I usually get less if they are asleep. The babysitter just has to hang out.

If the babysitter has to put them to bed I would pay her a couple extra $$.

    $7-$10 an hour is good

  7. I do $9 an hour, but you add one dollar to that for every extra kid. So if I was babysitting 3 kids, I'd get $11 an hour.
