  1. get a book/dvd for £4.99.much cheaper and you can always go back to it for reference

  2. Go to a Home Depot clinic/class - they're free.

Buy a table from a yard sale and tile the top of it, just to get used to working with the materials.

If you're going to tile a bathroom, make sure you've had a little practice first. The preparation of the substrate, the material and surface to which you'll bond your tile, must be done carefully around a tub or shower. Tiling floors also introduces some concerns and issues.

Michael Byrne's "Setting Tile" is a terrific book: http://www.amazon.com/Setting-Tile-Homeb...

Here's a video of Michael Byrne setting tile, which has been lauded as being great for beginners:

  3. Yeah don't pay anyone to teach you to do tile work.  If you go to one of the local tile installers and tell them you want to learn how to do tile they will pay you to teach you.  Also, Lowes and Home Depot have free classes.  Find someone that will take you as an apprentice and let them teach you while you work.

  4. don't pay anybody. don't go to b&q either try and get some work exp with a tradesman who knows the trade. experance is the key.

  5. go to your local b&q warehouse, tiling department, they have got a video disc that you can play on your dvd,it tells you all you need to know.

  6. Like one person said, HD gives free classes, If that is not available in your area, just ask someone who does it if maybe you can help them on their next install,. That way you can watch , ask questions , and maybe even get paid. These links may be of some help.

  7. If you live near a Home Depot they do classes.  It may save you some money.

  8. Nothing. Big tile shops have videos.
