How much should I pay to pack and unpack and move my 4 bedroom home?

There is no fixed answer without more information.

It would depend on how far you are moving

- with the most important thing being whether it

is a local or long distance move.

In the former case, it's basically an hourly charge.

In the latter case, it's weight and mileage and who knows what else.

One thing is for sure - it's not cheap.

The last time I moved, from one 2 BR apartment to another a 10 minute drive away, with me doing all the

packing beforehand, it was around $300 (and that was

quite a few years ago).

So if you are doing a local move of a full houseload

of stuff, with packing and unpacking, I'd start my

estimate around 4-5  times as much as that ($1200-1500),

and if you are moving a long distance, it might

be 10-20 times as much ($3000-6000).

Have you tried calling a few moving companies

to get estimates ?
