How much should I save for an apartment?

I live in the suburbs of St. Louis, and plan to live downtown next year in an apartment for the summer to work and do an internship before studying abroad in the fall. I have about $400 saved right now, and will be working a lot during the school year as well as over breaks. Also, I will hopefully have the apartment with one or two other people. How much is enough to save for an apartment or sublease for 3 months?

I would be on the safe side and have enough saved for 4 months of rent and ALL utilities and then some just in case . good luck
