Question:

How much should I sell an old Rover for?

I have an old R reg, Rover 420 SLi 2.0. Alloy wheels, sun roof, silver paint. It goes well but it's too big for me. It has a tiny dent in the back where I backed into something. MOT runs out in Nov.

I was wondering how much I should put it in the paper for. Should I get another MOT done, or should I not bother?

I did see an advert for: We buy any car - and I expect I wouldn't get as much for it, but I expect it wouldn't be as much hassle as selling to private sellers?

  1. According to parkers, about £500.

The MOT's long enough - don't throw money at another one.

Put it on autotrader for £600, or on Ebay with a reserve.

I'd also park it somewhere visible with a 'for sale' sign on it & a phone number.

Ads offering to buy aren't even worth bothering with. I guarantee they'll offer no more than £250.

  2. scrap man will give you £200. lol

  3. nothing no one wants it just give it away and save time lol

  4. We buy any car . com, gave us a really low offer for our car.

£300 when it was well worth £800.

Have a look on auto trader, it'll give you a good idea of what other people are selling similar cars for.

  5. Hi, unfortunately because it is a 2.0 litre it will not be popular. Silver sells well however, expect to get around £400 if it is running well. Advertise in Autotrader for free under £1000, put it in for £500 ono

  6. Gordon Brown might be interested when he loses his PM's car!  Seriously, I'd say about £400.
