How much should I sell my acoustic Yamaha SCF04 for?

My dad and I decided to get me a guitar for Christmas about four years ago, and now I'm looking at a new guitar (an ebony Epiphone Dove - GORGEOUS!) and I was thinking I could sell my old Yamaha for this new one. Now I went to http:/www.craigslist.com and I tried selling it for $200, which is what I bought it for, and then I changed it to $180 yesterday and now the current price is $160. Since I'm moving to the St. Louis area on Saturday, I need to get this sold but I need a little bit of a profit so I can purchase the Epiphone. What is a decent price to sell this for a guitar with very MINIMAL scratches and dents and hasn't been played that much? (It also comes with the gig bag it came with.)

  1. Yeah, you probably won't get the full 200 but within fifty dollars of it. Also try checking around guitar shops. Go to the big ones, like Guitar Center, but also check the smaller ones if you have any in your town.

Be sure you check out as many things as you can before you decide, you never know when you can get a better deal.

For instance - my friend recently sold his laptop, trying to sell it for 400 but broke down when someone offered $250 - exactly how much he needed to make his rent - not even 30 minutes after the guy left someone called offering 500 for it.

But basically, keep checking craigslist, look under the wanted section, and go to all your local music shops to check to see if you can sell it or trade it in.

    Good luck!!

  2. 150-180. you were in the right range.
