It's used and could do with a bit of proper cleaning, but it's still pure silver.

  1. Hi there,

Sterling silver or coin silver flutes are more expensive than silver plated or a combination of silver and silver plate.  There is a huge difference on what you can get for your flute depending on the make and model.   Professional flutes such as Powell, Brannen, Haynes, Muramatsu can sell for as much $8000.00 used (maybe more).

Low end professional models might be selling for $3000 to $5000.

Intermediate flutes by Yamaha, Jupiter, Pearl - might sell somewhere in the $800 -$2500 range.

Silver flutes by Gemeinhardt, Armstrong, Emerson, Artley in the intermediate range sell for $750-$950.

Keep in mind,  the flute to sell for premium price must be clean,  in good playing and physical condition.  Pads must be clean and in good adjustment where there are no leaks or rips or tears in them.

So, I hope I have been able to give you a little something to base your asking price on.

Thanks for reading and best luck selling.

  2. While I don't play band - my primary instrument is violin - I've had many friends who do play the flute. Most of them had good instruments, though not completely silver. Still, from what they said, I'd think that a higher-class flute would go for at least a thousand; and they were talking about just a good school instrument.

So, while I've probably been less than helpful, I hope I helped.

    Luck, and all!
