  1. Take it to the store where you buy the reeds and resin.  Ask them how much they think it is worth.  Start there.

    CONDITION

    CONDITION

    CONDITION

  2. When i sold my trumpet i sold it at a garage sale for $100.00. If the clarinet is in good condition i would start at $75.

  3. Hello...   If this is a Buffet E-11solid wood clarinet in good condition...  Needing no work or new pads (and I assume you know if it needs a repad) and the wood is not chipped or cracked, keys are not clouded or stained,   comes with a nice case, mouthpiece, cap, ligature..  an excellent and fair selling price would be $450.00.   If the clarinet needs an overhaul with new pads and a cleaning...  deduct $200.00 from the $450.00 allowing the buyer that discount to get the

    instrument in ready-to-play condition.

If it is a B-12 plastic clarinet... and in good condition as mentioned above.  I would ask $250.00.

  4. Well... let's see... Buffet and paid $608...

I assume then that it's a student model (B12?) and that means it's made of ABS resin (plastic) and not wood... these are pretty common and easy to obtain, and can be found all over the net for around $400(used).

As long as you've taken decent care of it (haven't dropped or cracked it), you should still be able to get half your money back, maybe a little more.  ABS is really durable and it's hard to mess up, and Buffet is well known for their craftmanship- even on student model horns.

If it's in good condition (including the case!), and if you've had new pads and cork put on in the last year, I would say you could easily ask $400-$450.  If the pads and cork haven't been replaced in the last year, I would knock off another hundred... so $300-$350.

If it's broken though, or any keys are bent, springs are missing, etc., you should ask significantly less for it.  Also, are you planning on including mouthpiece and ligature with it (other than the generic ones that came with it originally)?

Your best bet would be to take it to your local music store and ask what they think it's worth... they will give you a better estimate by being able to look at it and PLAY it.

Good luck and hope this helped! :)

*EDIT: Another thing to think about is where are you selling it?  If you're selling in your community (newspaper, friend, etc.), some of the prices are going to vary... the Chicago market is saturated with clarinets, so they sell for pretty cheap (used student models, anyways).  If you are in Nowhere, Kansas, you might be able to get a little more.  If you're selling on the net (eBay, Craigslist), try to find more of an even fair market value! Haha...

  5. as much as you can get

  6. Go to ebaY and check the completed listings for your item.  That will give you a fair market value for your Clarinet.  I sold a clarinet on ebaY a few years ago that was several years old and it went for a few hundred dollars.

If you are signed into ebaY (it's free) then you can click on the link below for a list of completed "Buffet Clarinet" auctions.

  7. I LOVE MUSIC I WILL BUY IT!

    just kidding .......................................t... cheap.
