I skateboard. I just need a camera to take pictures of me and my friends doing tricks and grinds. I'm thinking that I might want to buy a video camera, but I'm one of those types that don't like to spend their money. I realize i have to so if you can give me an estimated guess on how much I will spend on a decent camera let me know. Please and Thank You.

  1. if your pictures are going to be mostly of skateboard movements then your most important requirement in any camera you choose will be how it handles motion/action.

set a dollar amount on what you are willing to spend and ask some knowledgeable ppl/salesppl what are some good cameras for action shots.

  2. There are a bunch of questions to answer 1st.

-What is the definition of decent?

    -  Do you want solely a video camera or will a digital camera with video do? If size is an issue, you could go with a digital camera, but you would sacrifice quality, but some of today’s digital cameras are pretty good.

    - All things being = if you are looking for a good digital camera with video, and you are tech savvy, go with the Canon PowerShot SD1000. ($149.00 - $249.99) It's the smallest Canon digital with a view finder and the video is pretty good.  (I use this to take video of my daughter more often than my video camera).  If you are not tech savvy, go with Kodak EasyShare V1253, ($199 to $249) it's very easy to down load pictures to your computer.

-If you are looking for just a camcorder go with the Canon ZR850 ($182.00 - $299.00).  It’s pretty compact and Mini DV.  I have a Canon video camera, it works great and is fairly easy to change over to DVD through the computer and very affordable.
