My hardest jump is a double salchow. I have been skating for a year now and i get one 30 minute lesson a week and i practice 2 days besides my lesson. I think that this isn't enough. I think i should get on the ice everyday and get about 3 lessons a week, I'm in 6th grade so if you could give me a schedule of when I should skate, I can cut time from school if i need to.

  1. Ok well heres my sched.

Monday:  One 25 minute lesson for dance, one 35 freestyle, a total of 2 hours on the ice.

Tuesday:  One 30 minute lesson for dance, one 40 minute lesson for freestyle, 2 hours on ice.

Wednesday:  30 minutes dance, 30 minute freestlye, one hour on ice.

Thursday:  50 minutes dance, 2 hours on ice.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are my days off.  I am working on double loops and flips, and pre-gold dances.  You should probably do more because you will learn your jumps alot faster!!

  2. I am also a sixth grade figure skater just trying to get her double salchow. What I do is have 2 private lessons (monday and thursday) then on wednesday, tuesday, friday, and saturday I have group yoga, jump calasses, and stretching. On the side i try to squeeze in my own practices (1 hour). Use 20 minutes of them on dance!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  3. I would suggest working with your parents and coach to find a schedule that is right for your life and your skating level. I would suggest getting a little more lesson time, and a little more skating time. I would suggest staying in school as much as possible, and not cutting time from school because school is very important. Good luck!

  4. At that level I dont think you quite need to skate everyday. You should definately talk to your coach about it to find something that is right for you

I skate three days a week and get a lesson on each of those days and I am at about the same level as you
