  1. .4%..????  THAT DOESN'T EVEN GO WITH TRADITION.../

  2. I have worked in the food industry for 5 yrs or so.  What people don't know or to some don't care but when you are in  a sit down restaurant ex. Uno Chicago Grill... You have to understand that your waiter/waitress first has to get ur drinks(and refill if needed and let me tell you people take advantage of that) and take your order and put into the system, then takes your food to your table (and those trays sometimes can weigh 20-30 lbs depending)clears your plates glasses etc...dessert if asked and the cleans the table for the next family or couple to sit..i know this may not seem difficult to you or anybody but if you think about how many other tables your server has and she/he has to do the same thing for everybody else its exhausting and tiresome...also that server is only getting paid  $2.83 or so an hour from the employer.  So it is better to tip 15-20% as long as the service is good or acceptable.  Basically if you have a bill of $65 don't leave them $5.......just because they are a waiter/waitress doesn't mean they don't have just as many bills as you do...oh and tipping in fast food chains is not necessary...i overtip but i do not tip in fast food chains

  3. u don't have to tip at fast food places But if u get served by the waitress then you should deffinitely tip them appoximately 15%

  4. I usually tip between 15-20% at restaurants.

  5. I rarely tip at a fast food restaurant where you get your food at the counter. At a sit down restaurant I think you should tip between 10 - 20%

  6. usually, its "supposed" to be 10-15%.

  7. 15-20% at sit down restaurants. I do not tip at fast food restaurants.

  8. %00.0

  9. You know that is less that 1%?   Why bother?

  10. I always tip pretty good because I know how it is to rely on tips as a living.  If I pay $50 for a meal, I will always leave $10 or more.  I use a 15% standard and then I add more money than that always.  If the server was really good I don't think it matter too much what % to go by.

A 0.4% tip is ****.  Do you mean 4%?  That's still S****y.  People who receive tips get paid so little on their paychecks because they live off their tips.  I don't think you would appreciate that low of a tip if you were surviving off of it.  TIPS  means To Insure Proper Service.  Proper service is not worth a 4% tip.

I don't tip at Burger King because they receive a full paycheck, it's not split.

  11. If you only tip .4% I hope you're not a regular at any restaurant in your hometown, or more specifically my hometown (seeing as how I wait tables). I always tip 20% usually more (pretty customary for servers to do so). Even at bars I almost always tip a dollar a beer, even when its dollar beer nights.

  12. depends who

  13. I don't tip at fast food restaurants at all. My average tip at a sit-down restaurant is 15%.

  14. The discussion about tipping can generate a very interesting discussion.  I used to work in the restaurant business so I have some insight on this issue.

Generally, tipping is to reward good service.

I never tip in fast food outlets--the staff takes your money and you do all the work of prepping it for you to eat it.  YOu do not have table service--you have to put the dirty dishes in the trash etc.  Why do you need to give money away if you are not getting the service?

When you go into a restaurant where there is table service, waitstaff, and busboys, tipping is standard and it is advisable to tip at least 15% of the "pre-tax" amount.

If the service is poor, I don't tip a lot  ,or not at all.  If the service is really good, I tip 20%.

    Just remember reward good service.

  15. I tip 15-20% unless the service is really bad, then I still tip but a little less, maybe 10%.  I wonder why servers are not paid minimum wage at least. It really isn't fair for servers to have to depend on tips.  I think the whole restaurant industry should change this policy.

  16. 15-20% is usually polite. I tip around that. Give 20% to places with really good service or food.

  17. You should just keep your pennies.

  18. it dependz how gud dere suvice is....

nd how much da billz cumz out 2 b

  19. 15 precent-- i dont tip fast food except sonic

  20. nope

  21. Depends on how well they served you...but usually 15-20%
