  1. Im also a delivery driver, though a less grumpy one, it cost us 50 cents per mile to operate our vehicles, we get payed by the restaraunt only minimum wage, we  DO NOT collect delivery charges, the deleivery charges are usually to cover extra packaging and such.

Your description is vague but if lets say you are exactly 4 miles or  5 miles from the pizza place, that means the driver has to drive 10 miles total gogin both ways,  And yes THAT COST HIM A SOLID 5 DOLLARS in vehicle expenses, if you tip him 3 dollars he loses 2 dollars, if you tip him 4 dollars he loses 1 dollar, if you tip him 5 dollars he make no money and its the same as stiffing him, deliveries cost way more money that the average person is both aware, or willing to pay.  By tipping the delievry driver in the manors proposed here, you will most likely find yourself on the drivers "i dont like this guy" list, and you may find that he goes to your house last ALWAYS (though you wont know it) he spits in your food, or deliberately puts the pizza in his car upside down (just for you)

You should be paying the driver 6-12 dollars for very distant deliveries (such as your location relevant to the resteraunt) and 3 dollars minimum for the shortest of the short deliveries (such as only a 1/4 mile away)

You all can argue all you woudl like about it, but the fact of the matter is it cost the driver the same thign it woudl cost you to drive there, and if you wnat him to do it instead of you you shoudl pay him for his vehicle and then ontop of that, pay him for his time since thats what he does for a living, is cator to peopel that cannot get to and from the resteraunt, such as the elderly, sick, or peopel too young to drive.

Lastly i want to say that while i dont spit in peoples food, i know A LOT of poeple that do, i even know a guy that pissed on somebodies pizza once, so its really in your better interest to just pick up your food, or pay a proper amount.  Also please spread the word that delivery drivers are struggling to help other people reallise how much it cost them and how much you need to pay them.  I myself, am not struggling particularly because i do deliveries on a  70mpg motorcycle on a very local route, but i KNOW FOR FACT that most drivers are currently losing money, or making very very little.

  2. At least five. Given the cost of gas today and the convenience of having your food delivered to your door, a minimum of 5.00 is warranted. The delivery charge goes right back to the restaurant, the delivery guy sees none of that and relies on tips to survive.

  3. give 20% which is around 5-7

  4. About 15% probably.. I'd say about 3-4 dollars.  If you wanna be generous, go for 5 dollars.

Paying a total of 30.00 is what I would do ($4 tip) because it rounds off nice and it doesn't make you look cheap by going at $29 with all those ones, lol.

  5. Tipping is just an old wives' tale.

  6. 3.00 is fine

  7. Tell him "Don't eat yellow snow."

  8. ehh give him 2 3 or 4 dollars. not too much just give him 30.

  9. I'd say 5.

  10. like 5 bucks

more if hes hott  ; P

  11. I AM A DELIVERY DRIVER AND I JUST WANTED TO GET THIS OUT THERE. WE PAY FOR OUR OWN GAS. WE GET PAID MINIMUM WAGE. WE PAY FOR OUR OWN CAR MAINTENANCE.  WE DON'T HAVE A TIME LIMIT OR ANYTHING IN WHICH TO DELIVER THE PIZZA. WE USUALLY HAVE 2 OR 3 DELIVERY AT SAME TIME SO WE USUALLY GO TO THE LOUSY TIPPERS LAST AND WHO KNOWS WE MIGHT EVEN SPIT IN YOUR PIZZA BEFORE WE DELIVER.

  12. Whe you tip anyone it can be 10% to 15% of the amount of the bill, so in your case tipping $5.00 would be good.

  13. I would tip between $5.00, but I usually tend to tip between 15 and 20 percent, depends on the service

  14. i tip them based on how nice there were to me and if they assume i'm tipping them (by saying thx before i tell them to take it) thats a big turn off . try around $3-its seems fair enough to u and him

  15. around 3 to 5 is good.

  16. I always try to give about 10% so i'd say about $3 is good.

  17. I got chinese last night it came to 11$ with 1$ delivery charge

12$ I debated on giving anything because they already put on the charge but I gave him a buck thats enough at least for under twenty dollars.if it is a large order then i would go the 15% or twenty.

  18. I'd tip $3 or $4.  In restaurants where they actually serve you you're supposed to leave a minimum of 15% for good service.  Why not give just about that or a little under for delivery?  But I usually overtip b/c I figure if they're working at a place like that they could use a couple extra bucks.

  19. 3 dollars
