Hello, I am a 21 year old Business major with an emphasis in financing. I was wondering what a good amount to work would be during the semester. I make 11.25 an hour and my bills are currently about 400 dollars a month and will be down to about 300 come October. I have a girlfriend and I also train in martial arts and weight lifting. Last semester I worked 30 hours a week and took 5 classes... I was getting terrible panic attacks and was stressed out the entire semester. I am going to be taking 5 classes again this semester. This is my school schedule..

Monday: 8am-9:25am // 2:20-3:40

Tuesday: 9:50-11:10 // then 3:50pm-9:50pm no breaks in between.

Wed: 8am-9:25am // 2:20-3:40

Thursday: 9:50AM - 11:10AM // 5:20PM - 6:40PM

What would be a good amount of hours to work and which days do you all think would be best to work? I really appreciate the input.

  1. 20 hours per week is more than enough. you may want to look into doing marketing events and demos. you get paid $15-$20 an hour and you set your own schedule, work is usually on the weekends and is quite fun.

you can search for companies on google, there are tons !

  2. 20 hours MWF sounds best. You certainly don't want to overwork yourself and you need time to study obviously.

I can understand from personal experience working part-time in college that 20 hours a week is just enough for me to get by and not feel really stressed out, and I make about 10 dollars an hour.

  3. It depends on if you have already done your internship. If you still have to do your internship, and it is your last year, I wouldn't recommend having a job also.
