My gsd sleeps all the time and is only awake for short periods of time.Is this ok or should she stay awake a certain amount of time each day. The only time she is awake is when I take her somewhere or when I an training her which is about 3 hours a day on average but even when in the car she sleeps. THANK YOU

  1. Puppies sleep a lot. Try to spend more time with her. Give her a toy, let her play. I think 18 weeks is too young for training.

However, you should consult a vet.

  2. She is young as long as she eats and acts healthy don't worry. However I will ask,you are not spending 3 hrs a day at training are you? That is a long time! That will tire her out.

  3. I have had Greman Shepherds since I was little and all of the puppies would sleep alot till they was about 8 months old then they started to get more active, and believe me when they do you will be wishing they would sleep sometimes, nah it aint that bad they are really good dogs. Do you have alot of things for her to do, buy her some toys that make noise and give her a ball to chase. If I was you after I finished her daily training I would play with her for about hour or so and then let her nap. She will grow out of it, you have to remember they are just like babies when they are that young thats all that thye know. Hope this helps you out

  4. well german sheperds are active dogs so they do need a lot of exersise but i think you should ask your vet.

hat ever you do don't give it to the pound.

  5. all puppy's sleep alot don't worry :)

  6. She should be sleeping around 20 hours a day so that sounds about right. Don't worry, she'll perk up very soon and you'll wish she'd sleep to give you a break!!!
