Well I just got her and I just want to know how much she eats and how many time I should walk her? Feel free to ask me questions if I did not provide enough details. and I'll answer them.

Oh plus, the dog food really smells so we keep it in the laundry room. My room is kind of far from the laundry room. Do you think the dog can sniff it from there?

  1. Well I do need more info because big dogs eat more than little dogs. My Shih Tzu eats about a cup of food a day and a cupple of treats. He has a run that I put him in for him to well run besides the play we have with his toys and blankie. The smell would go away if you bath the dog. I take my dog to a groomer once a month and bath him once a week as well. He has bad alergies.

  2. I prefer open feed(Just leaving food there all the time) as then your dog will eat as much as it needs, when it is hungry.

Also I would suggest using a dog shampoo as Dogs and Peoples pH balance in our hair is different and may cause her skin to dry.

  3. For feeding, follow the instruction on the dog food and keep an eye on your dog. The instructions are general guidelines only and the amount of food will vary depending on the dog's metabolism and activity level. A dog has a healthy weight if you can run your hand over its sides, through the fur, and just feel its ribs. This rule of thumb goes for most dogs, except racing dogs are usually slimmer than that.

Baby shampoo or dog shampoo for the dog, but one bath with Dove isn't going to harm him.

What dog food do you use? It sounds strange that it is so stinky. Get a good dog food container and put the food in there and there shouldn't be any smell.

  4. You should ask your vet how much food would be best for your dog.  They will tell you what is best based on the breed, size and current condition of the dog.

  5. The amount you need to feed your dog depends on her activity level what brand of dog food you are feeding her.  You will often need to feed twice as much of the cheaper poor quality brands than you will a more nutritious high quality food which means that sometimes the cheap food really costs just as much per day to feed your dog.

Personally I swear by Flint River Ranch.  I only need to feed my 95 pound dog 3 cups per day!  (Admittedly he is older and kind of a couch potato)  The delivery to your home is also included in the price  with the gas prices I really appreciate that!

  6. I feed my dog 2 cups/day.

I like a leaner, more athletic dog though.

I would assume a smaller dog would need more/less and different types of food than a larger dog.

It's best to feed a dog after the walk. 20min after would be good. At least that's what I heard.

...Im confused. I thought you were saying the dog FOOD smells, not the dog. ?lol?

I would stick to 2 cups/day my dog is considered medium as well. (40pounds) what breed is your dog?

  7. How much does she weigh? You need to find that out, and then feed her according to the directions on the back of the bag. My malamute would starve on 2 cups, but the pugs would be as wide as they are long!

Another thing.... if the dogs food smells that bad, it probably isn't all that good for your dog. If you can buy what you are feeding at the grocery store or Wal-Mart, you shouldn't. There are many great quality foods out there at pet stores and feed-n-seeds. Yes, they may cost a little more up front, but they will save you a mint in vet bills down the road.

    Good luck!
