How much should a guinea pig be eating?

Question

how much should my 1 year old guinea pig be eating daily? he seems to be getting fat...i give him a bowl full of food in the morning and at night and he gets about 2 hand fulls of timothy hay a day and...a hand fulll of romaine lettuce a day....it sounds lik a lit but idk how much to feed him...he eats it all but he jus seems ta be getting fat!

He may be overeating if bored. They do best in pairs.

guinea pigs should have a never ending supply of timothy hay, just put a pile of it in the cage or if you dont want it soiled use a hay dipenser

supplement with fresh fruit

i have two guniea pigs.

she ate a cupful of dry good per day, and timothy hay every time they eat it all up.

make sure you check alot.

they alot need A LOT of water.

you can give him carrots, celery, lettuce, and mine esspecially loves parsley

my guniea pig had babies, so its a mom and of course it ate more. but since yours is a guy thats pretty common that its getting fat (:

I have two one y old guinea pigs (i hope you dont keep one on its own!)

They eat a fistful of guinea pig crunch (any brand is ok - but they prefer the meusli with all different stuff in not the brown pellets)

And one of the following:

cucumber slice (great for hot days very refreshing)

huge cabbage or cpring green leaf (vitamin C packed)

A big carrot chunk about an inch long (vitamin C packed)

I rotate the vegtables each day for variety and of course lots of hay and water - thats it really - and my piggies are happy and lively etc.

*With they hay - you shouldnt really ration it - you should leave too much in the cage so they can have some whenever they want - piggies eat until they are contented they dont overeat.

Two handfuls of dry ginnie pig mix, 1 handful of fruit and veg and 1 handful of hay a day.
