So I am a student in high school and i am currently taking AP Calculus AB. My teacher told the class if we wanted to sign up to be a tutor then to talk to him after class. There was a bunch of students lined up to sign up and as I was signing up he brought up a opportunity about how a 8th or 9th grade student was looking for a math tutor. It is a golden opportunity although it takes much effort because this person's parents are demanding 2 hrs after school for 5 days a week. I asked my math teacher if any of us were to take this offer how much we should charge and he responded by saying to not get paid under $50 per hr. I have decided to take this offer but I am not sure on how much I should charge per hr. Should i listen to my math teacher and charge $50 per hr? Should i charge more or less?

  3. yes my math tuter charges 50 an hour

  4. 30

  5. How much are YOU worth. How valuable is YOUR time. How much will people pay for your time. What's the extra tuition worth to the child's parents. I would advise an assessment/trial period with this student. If he needs this much extra tuition maybe he's unteachable. Can you guarantee results for the $500 per week? If you can then go for it. Golden opportunities don't come along all that often. Good luck.

  6. I'd give weight to your teachers recommendation assuming he knows the area and knows the going rate for tutors.  I'd start with $40-50 an hr.
