How much should a rebuilt transmission cost me?

I have a 1994 Ford econoline 250. How much should this cost me ? How much would a new one cost compared to a rebuilt one. And what will this entire job cost me? thanks Under

  1. Probably ~1500, double that for a new one.

    See if you can just pick up one from a junk yard.


  2. i paid 300 for a rebuilt transmission at a junk yard about 4 years ago.  still seems to be ok.  i had a friend put it in for me.  what really costs is how much they charge you to put it in.  if you can get a friend to put it in, the costs goes way down.

  4. i paid 1300 for rebuilt [with rebuilt converter] for my 99 s 10 chev...new is prob in 3000+ range

  5. call around for estimates before having it repair,they are high mark-ups on transmission repairs,it could save you a lot of money,hope this helps.
