  1. take a bus

  2. I was in May in Pattaya and have payed 1100 Baht + 200tip for the driver.

The important is to ask the taxidriver for the price before you drive to pattaya.

But traveling with a bus can really make much more fun.

In a Bus you will meet people and have your first impressions of thai people and culture.

  3. I got one the start of June; it cost 1500baht but I now know I over payed. It will likely cost around 1000-1200baht with a private taxi or around 900 baht with a metered taxi. Often you can haggle and get the private taxi for the same price as the metered one though.

Tip: Don't go for the 1st person to approach you at the airport.

  4. If you were local you'd wait all night for at the transportation center for the  389 Bus - Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya 9.00am,13.00,17.00,19.30 pm 106 or130 baht or the bell bus

Bell Travel (as of July 2008) to: 06:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00   Airport ground floor exit 7 opposite the tourist police booth, the cost is 150B

So now that your pegged as a mug tourist that doesn't want to get ripped off, the official meter-taxi price to Pattaya is 1050 baht (1100 baht to Jomtien) plus the 60 baht highway toll.  Give the driver a nice tip.

I also found this 360 walking tour map of pattaya.  You can press on the blue dots in the road to move ahead or change location on the attached map.  Very cool.

  5. well I paid once for 800baht

  6. If I were you I'd take the bus, but I also wouldn't go to Pattaya again either.  Unless you're looking to party and get laid, Pattaya is not the place to go.  If you're going that way, I would go to Trat and take a ferry to Koh Chang instead.  You'll still get plenty of beaches, restaurants and people, but you won't get the seediness that is Pattaya.  Have fun!

If you do take a taxi, insist on having the driver use his meter.  Also, there are some taxis that have stickers that say "I Love Farang" on it, which means they cater more to tourists and are less likely to rip you off.

  7. Recommend to take shuttle bus rather than taxi. However, if you still wanna take taxi, you could negotiate with driver... I think at least should be 1000 Baht.  http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Pattay... try this website for Pattaya information... G'luck http://www.discovery-thailand.com
