I am an Elementary Education major and am wanting to earn some money as a tutor to Elementary School age children, Grades K-6. I am not sure what a good price would be in the midwest area to charge.

  1. I teach in the midwest as well.  Since you're not a licensed teacher yet, I would ask your university if they know of "going rates" for pre-service teachers.  I get paid $23/ hour for summer school- which is kind of like actual tutoring.  I have heard in my area between $20-30/ hour.

  2. It really depends on your location and qualifications. People who have a Master's or Doctorate degree usually charge more. I am currently working towards my Master's degree, and I charge anywhere from $30 to $50 an hour. If you live in a wealthier area, charge more. If you live in a middle class or low income area, charge less.

  3. my sons tutor is $35.00 a hour

  4. i charge 15.
