I ordered a new 2008 Jeep Patriot and it was finally delivered to the dealer with some damage that occured during transportation of the vechile. They replaced the front fender and now it looks like new. They did have to disclose the damage and it will show up on the Carfax report for now on. I am going to try and negotiate a lower price since the car is no longer worth the original agreed upon price.

How much would this type of repair financially impact the resell value of the car? I know nothing about cars, so even an estimate would be helpful.

  2. If they replaced and repainted the front fender, and it now looks new, why would they take anything off the price? Why would restoring something to the same condition it was originally in cause it to suddenly be worth less money?

  3. Maybe it would help to call another dealership and just inquire about how much they charge for that part. Call about two or three known dealerships and find an estimate.
