  1. Ouch two things that hurt.  She is proven on a race track and owned by a 15 year old.  I would remove the Likes kids part of the ad or you will be plagued by parents wanting a horse for their 8, 9 or 10 year old.  Many of which are considering a first horse and this mare is unlikely to be for them.  Remember that any time someone calls you to take it for granted that they only have one tenth the experience they claim.

No horse has value as a brood mare anymore unless it has top bloodlines.  So the value I would put on it is $1000.  To be honest, I wouldn't pay that but somebody might so that is the starting point.

The reason she is not a kids horse because she has been raced.  What makes a kid safe horse is a horse that will take the pulling a jerking of a small child for mile after mile without getting upset or having a blow up.  They must never spook, buck, rear, or panic, and must not get angry. This takes a VERY unusual horse and is only found in perhaps one out of every hundred.  They must love children but more importantly, they must also be tolerant of the children giving them orders.  This horse is not that one.  She may be fine for teens but she is not fine for that, not if she has been raced.

As far as bloodlines.  How far back are those names.  It doesn't matter anymore who the grandparents or great grandparents are.  What matters is who the parents are.

All of our horses will let my daughter groom and pet on them.  It does not mean that she is safe on any of my horses.  There is only one at present I will let her ride on trail and one other I will let her ride in the yard.  BTW by kid broke I mean what most people mean and that is that a kid can ride them by themselves.  My daughter rides her horse on up to 15 mile trail rides.  Will your horse let a kid do that?  And by a kid I mean a 6 year old.  Of course I have to be fair and say that she sits in the saddle better than most adults having started riding while in a snuggly at 7 months, but a 6 year old can not put much force on the reins, so a kid's horse must obey a kid just because it chooses to and it must be conscious of the fact that the kid can get hurt if it acts up so it must be careful not to hurt the child.

One thing I am confused on....Are you the Mother or the 15 year old daughter?

  2. $500 -$1000

At that age I would worry most about her going to a good forever home and ask an affordable price to the right buyer. Arthritis and Diet Needs in the next couple years may surface so I would n't want to pay more that that. I wouldn't take advantage of her pedigree for breeding her at 20yrs either. I would only buy a horse like her for children  and backyard pet type environment. It all depends on her soundness and condition.

Three Bars isn't that big a deal - Mostly every QH I have owned had Three bars and one with Easy Jet too. It doesn't matter.  Pedigree doesn't matter to me if I am not breeding and at 20 I'd be relucatnt to do so, Its finding the right match of a buyer. If you aren't in a hurry to sell ask more, If you want to sell her ask $500. Up here in New England and NY she isn't worth more. Look thru local classifieds of your specific area.  Depends on where you are.

I don't think $500 - 1000 is "crazy" , its more "realistic" if you actually found a perfect match for her offering a permanent loving home. Just check refs on your buyer if you are giving a low  price  and make sure they aren't going to ever send her to an auction and make sure you have first refusal if they have to sell her.

  3. Has she shown?  That might be something people would ask and also how beginner safe.  I am selling a couple of horses and I get asked that a lot!  Um because of her age and the market sucking right now I do not think you will get more then $3000 for her.  That is where I would start but maybe expect to go down to $2000.  Trust me the market is dead right now at least where I live.  Everyone tells me they like my horse but they need to sell their horse first.

  4. 500$!?! Are you crazy? Meat horses go for 500, not Three Bar Lines horses. You could get $2000 for her easy, she has 10 years left in her, good lines, and is a good horse.

  5. If she does well at shows, I would say $1500 to $2500, she still have life left, and would be good for a beginner or newer rider looking for their first horse.  If all that works, then I think that is a good price range.

  6. my horse has three bars bloodlines 2 but anyway she is up in age so around $1,000 i think  good luck selling :)
