  1. Base your workout on time -- not number of laps. That way your workout won't get easier as you get faster.

I'd suggest 30 minutes at a minimum, then work up to an hour.

  2. yo doy 50 = 2500 m en una hora.

  3. i do swim team, so we do quite a lot of laps. it equals up to about 2000-4000 meters or so. but it depends on how good a swimmer u r and if ur just trying to get into shape. if ur just getting into shape, then i wuld just do about 200-400 meters (thats 8-16 laps in a 25 meter pool). see if that helps. :D

  4. well i'm not sure. usually at practice i swim upwards of 4,500 yards or more in 2 hours.

  5. i swim an hour and a half a day.  if you don't have that kind of time swim at least more then 45 minutes though so you actually feel like you did something.

  6. well, i was a very competitive swimmer and would swim around 8-10,000 yards a day...but you should not base your lap swimming on anyone elses.  rather, it is the quality of what you do.  don't just get in the pool and idley go back and forth.  make a workout of it.  a workout for every sport is broken into sections.  stretch on dryland first, then do a warmup in the water, letting your body get used to swimming.  a next great step is to some kind of kicking set.  then proceed to a timed set (like 10 50's (that would be two laps) on 1:40.  every lap pool should have a clock, make it your friend.  this set would mean that you look at the clock, go at the top (60), do your two lengths at a strong pace. and then rest on teh wall until the 1:40 is up. push off again and do another two lengths.  if you are going at a good pace, you should get about 10  - 15 seconds rest, so adjust tiem accordingly.  only by doing sets do you really see improvement.  make sure you do a cooldown after this.  that's about all i have time to answer now but would be happy to help anyone out with more details (i am emailable)  have fun swimming!

  7. I usually do 10 of each lap (backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and the regular stroke) In one week I've lost around 5 pounds!
